ENT and Speech Pathology Voice Clinics

Ann Louise Spurgin and Laura Moroney have a special interest in laryngology, the study and treatment of voice, laryngeal, and upper airway disorders. They run specialised clinics in collaboration with ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat) surgeons, using videostroboscopy to examine the vocal folds and upper airway in detail. This advanced technology provides a magnified, slow-motion view of vocal fold vibration and airway function, helping identify subtle conditions that may affect your voice or breathing.

During the assessment, a thin, flexible camera (nasendoscope) is gently passed through your nose after a local anaesthetic spray to view your larynx (voice box) and airway. The examination is recorded in high-definition, capturing both structure and movement.

Afterwards, the ENT surgeon and Speech Pathologist will review the video with you, explaining what they see and helping you understand your voice and airway health, so together you can plan the most effective care.
