At Voice + Swallowing Solutions, we accept referrals from a wide range of sources to ensure patients can access the services they need.

Do I Need a Referral?

• A referral from a GP or Medical Specialist is not required to access speech pathology services.
• However, referrals are always welcomed, as they provide important background and help us plan your initial session.

When a Referral is Required

A signed referral from a GP or Medical Specialist is required for:

• Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) claims – A written referral outlining the request for speech pathology services, or completion of the D0904 form.
• Medicare Chronic Disease Management Program (previously known as EPC or TCA)
• Specialist Assessments – For instrumental swallowing assessments such as Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) and Videofluoroscopic Swallow Studies (VFSS), we recommend a referral from a GP, ENT, or other medical specialist. Learn more on our Assessments page.

Who Can Refer

Referrals can be made by:

• Individuals or their carers
• General Practitioners (GPs)
• Medical Specialists
• Allied Health Professionals
• WorkCover
• NDIS plan-managed or self-managed clients
• Australian Defence Force BUPA
• Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) White and Gold card holders

Fees & Payment

• Patients are responsible for all fees associated with their care, including any portion not covered by Medicare, private health insurance, or other third-party funding sources.
• Speech pathology services at Voice + Swallowing Solutions are fee-for-service; we are not a bulk-billing practice.
• Please contact us to request a copy of our schedule of fees.

Privacy & Consent

Voice + Swallowing Solutions is committed to protecting your personal information. Any information collected as part of a referral or appointment will be:

• Stored securely on encrypted servers located in Australia
• Used only for providing services and communicating with relevant care providers
• Handled in accordance with relevant privacy legislation and other legal requirements

By submitting a referral or booking an appointment, you consent to your information being collected, stored, and used for the purposes of your care.

This practice has access to AI note taking tools to accurately and efficiently capture the details of our discussions and the outcomes of our appointments. All data is encrypted, securely and confidentially stored on servers located within Australia to comply with local jurisdiction requirements. Please advise your practitioner if you do not consent to this.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations, reschedules or delays to appointments due to operational reasons whilst avoided may occur and every effort will be made to contact you as soon as possible.

Cancellations with less than 1 (one) business day’s notice or failure to attend appointments may incur a cancellation fee. Cancellation fees may be processed at the time the cancellation is made, or at the very latest at the time of the next scheduled session.
